White or slightly yellow, crystalline powder.It should odorless or has a slight odor of alcohol, and should hygroscopic.



Freely soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol; very slightly soluble in dioxan, insoluble in chloroform, and in ether.

Identification A     (By IR)


The Rf value of the principal spot obtained from the test solution should correspond to that obtained from the standard solution.

Identification B     


The residue from the ignition of it should give the reactions of sodium and phosphates.
